What a digital invitation is
A digital invitation is a web page for one event. It holds the hosts, the date and time, the venue, the dress code and the reply form, and it opens in a browser when a guest taps the link you send. Guests do not create an account, and they do not install anything.
That is different from a static invitation image — a picture of an invitation sent in a chat or attached to an email. A picture cannot collect replies, and it cannot be corrected: once it has been sent, a changed start time means sending the picture to everyone again.
It differs from a paper invitation in another way. A card is an object that arrives by post and gets kept; a page is a document that stays current. Both can carry the same details, but only one of them can still be right next week.
How an InviteVia invitation is made
Every invitation is made in one flow, from the occasion to the published link — the digital invitation maker walks through the same eight steps. Nothing is public until you press publish, and you can move back and forth between the steps while you work.
- Choose the occasion and a template. The picker shows only the layouts designed for that event type, four of the nine templates are free, and the template gallery shows all of them at once.
- Add the event information: title, host names, date, start and end time, timezone, venue and address, an optional description, dress code and schedule.
- Configure the RSVP: which fields guests see — plus-ones, dietary preferences, a note to the hosts, song requests — and how many responses you will accept.
- Publish the invitation to get a short link. The wording of that link can be regenerated before you send it.
- Share that one link — WhatsApp, email, a group chat, an Instagram story — instead of messaging guests one by one.
- Watch the replies arrive on your dashboard, export the list when the caterer asks, and open the invitation yourself to see what guests see.
Why hosts send a link
The reasons hosts choose a digital invitation are practical rather than decorative. The same link works for a guest reading it in a taxi and for one who opens it a week later, and it can be sent again as people confirm they are coming.

A printed invitation is an object, and that is worth something. It sits on a fridge, it gets kept in a box, and for a formal wedding with a small guest list it signals the occasion before a word is read. It also depends on nothing: no battery, no signal, no link to find again in a year-old chat.
The cost of print is in the parts people underestimate — addressing, postage and reprinting after a change.
